Choices you make in your day-to-day activities can have profound impacts on your help – both positive or negative. Below are some important considerations about diet, exercise, sleep, and other lifestyle selections that require careful consideration.

Alcohol Use

  • If you drink alcohol, drink in moderation, no more than 2 drinks per day. If you have a family history of alcoholism, your chances of alcoholism are 4x greater.

Tobacco Use

  • Smoking dramatically increases your risk of cancer, heart attack, stroke, sudden death, ulcers, mouth cancer and bladder cancer. It also increases the size and number of facial wrinkles.
  • Penile cancer is 400% more common and baldness is 63% more common in smokers.
  • Avoid chewing tobacco. It can cause oral cancer.
  • There are medications that can dramatically reduce your desire to smoke. They make it less difficult to quit. Please ask us about this. It is much easier than you think!

Get Enough Sleep

  • Sleep is very important to your physical and emotional health. Get 7-8 hours per night. Avoid frequent napping because naps may reduce the quality of your nightly sleep cycles. Exercise improves sleep. Notify us if your partner has irregular breathing patterns during sleep. This may indicate a sleep apnea disorder.

Caffeine Intake

  • Limit caffeinated drinks, coffee, tea and soft drinks, to no more than 3 a day.

Recreational Drug Use

  • Recreational drug use and abuse can long-reaching affect beyond the impact to your health. If you have a problem with drugs, please discuss this with us.

Herbs & Supplements

  • If you are taking herbs and supplements, let us know. They are medications and should be listed and reviewed for interactions. We do recommend some herbals as complimentary therapy; however, let us review them with you before adding them to your routine.
