Know your family history of diseases. These facts may change the testing and preventive care that you need. Specific diseases to be aware of are: heart attacks, colon cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, thyroid cancer and osteoporosis.
Have a treadmill stress test for screening blockages in the arteries of the heart if you are at high risk (smokers, hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, family history of heart disease). Begin screenings at age 40 -45 and periodically thereafter.
Take low dose coated aspirin every day to help lower your risk of heart disease
if you are:
Man over 40 years old
Younger person who has these risk factors smokes, hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, family history of heart disease
Ask us before starting to be sure it is recommended for you. Take coated aspirin to prevent irritation and bleeding in the stomach. DO NOT take if you have a history of bleeding ulcers or other serious gastrointestinal disease.

You should be screened for Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) if you are sexually active, especially if you are between 15-30 years old. We screen for chlamydia, gonorrhea and HIV. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recommends men and women under 26 years old be screened specifically for chlamydia since the infection has no symptoms and can cause infertility if left untreated.
